Observation Tower
The observation tower is an iterative experimental project within my thesis. Reusing dismantled steel trusses from the old bus depot which is slated for demolition. The form was the result of a desire for linear expression on a vertical plane as a response to a suburban sprawling site context. The structure is braced on each side with two jack trusses flipped to make a rectangle. The base structure is 3m x 3m then at the top the form opens out to create a covered viewing platform. The structure also uses supplementary steel structural studs and columns.
