[ Novak + Middleton Architects ] This social housing complex is situated on the threshold of industrial and residential zones. Forming the design response as a solid apartment block to the industrial street, with access control through an atrium. This opens into the shared garden which maximizes the North-West sunlight. Along the residential section, 4 story townhouses step up the hillside. The apartments are a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom units of one or two story. Towards the end of my involvement, the model was adjusted from 100% public housing to include private housing. This aimed to aid in the integration of people in community housing and the rest of society.
